Saulo Sarmiento is a 24-year-old acrobat, dancer, aerialist & poler from the Canary Islands (Spain).
His artistic life began with rigorous training as a gymnast at the age of 13 with Jose Luis Sanz, and was part of the Canary Islands gymnastic team. Moving to Madrid at the age of 18, Saulo worked in Grease and Cats the musicals as well as touring as a dancer with several singers and bands.
But his true professional life and the creation of who Saulo is today, started when he became an aerialist with the company Kaleido. After 4 years, he then auditioned for another circus company Farfadais, and moved to Paris, adding Chinese Pole, Straps, Pole Dance, Aerial Fights and Hand to Hand to his list of skills, and gained a role in the famous show “The House of Dancing Water” by Franco Dragone, in Macau, during 2012.
He wowed the Pole Dancing world with his winning performance at Pole Art in Helsinki in 2012 (WATCH IT HERE), and since then has continued to work all around the world as a solo artist and with Ecole de Pole’s very own Anna de Carvalho with their doubles act (Pole & Aerial Pole Shows), in “China Rouge (Macau), Abu Dhabi with Franco Dragone, Amici 2013 (Italy), “The Box” in London and “Lightseeker” the musical show in Singapore.
2014 started off with Saulo winning the BRONZE medal at Cirque de Demain, the world’s most prestigious circus competition in Paris, as well as being awarded the “Cirque du Soleil special prize for most Innovative & Original act”. A dream come true for Anna, and a stepping stone for so much more to come in this incredible young artist’s life. Anna and Saulo have also just appeared on TV in France in the show “The Best” – a popular TV comp for cabaret & circus acts filmed in Paris.
